Last Day in La Esperanza (“Hope”) Quetzaltenango
The last day of the UTMB PA rotation in La Esperanza, Quetzaltenango, was yesterday. Dr. Patricia Crane, the preceptor for the rotation, sent along the photo below of the doctoras in front of the clinic site.
My understanding is that this was not a busy week, but was very interesting with nice people, lots of contact with local medical practitioners and students, and some very sick patients. The students report that they learned a lot and enjoyed the week as an introduction to Guatemala. Next week the group will be in San Francisco La Union, which is a little further down the road from the city of Quetzaltenango. The February UTMB rotation three weeks ago was extremely busy in La Union, with many very needful patients.
